Case UNI:ON switches to Green Instruments — citing quality, reliability, and service support

Product quality and reliable service support were key criteria for UNI:ON

Green Instruments has successfully supplied both water monitoring systems and continuous emissions monitoring systems for two vessels in UNI:ON’s fleet. The decision to replace the existing systems from another manufacturer stemmed from persistent issues with performance and durability, as well as communication and maintenance difficulties.

When evaluating alternative solutions, product quality and reliable service support were key criteria for UNI:ON. Ultimately, the decisive factor in choosing Green Instruments was the clear quality advantage over previous systems, active service organization and the strong external reputation for high customer satisfaction. “When customers choose us, they do not just choose a product — they choose a partner who is ready to support them around the clock,” says James Cruz, Service Manager at Green Instruments.

Unbeatable performance

The installation and commissioning process went smoothly and according to schedule, meeting all expectations of UNI:ON. Since installing the new equipment, UNI:ON has experienced a noticeable improvement in performance and operational stability. The failure rate has been significantly lower than with the previous systems, and the equipment has lived up to the reputation with its durability and ease of use.

Durability and quality have improved considerably compared to the previous equipment, particularly UNI:ON highlights the core component, the sensor of the water monitoring system, as being highly durable. One of the most impactful results has been the reduction in stress during commissioning and sea trials for new vessels – a direct result of more stable sensing and reliable system performance.

Maintenance made even easier

Maintenance has become much more efficient. Instead of unclear replacement cycles, resulting in individual spare parts purchases and difficulties, UNI:ON is experiencing the significant improvement of switching to Green Instruments. To the convenience of user, maintenance kits tailored with essential components are shipped directly to the vessel on a fixed interval, as UNI:ON concludes: “The maintenance kit is packed with user-required parts, which are cost-effective, and the overall lifetime is longer than other manufacturers, making it easier to experience cost savings.”.

Daily maintenance is simultaneously simplified with more stable sensors, thoroughly defined replacement cycles, and easy access to calibration. After receiving training and certification from Green Instruments, the onboard crew can handle general maintenance and adjustments by themselves.

World-class service and support

Another major improvement has been in service and support. In the past, UNI:ON struggled with a lack of responsiveness and inadequate support. With Green Instruments, the experience has been the opposite: fast response times through the 24-hour hotline, active service engagement, and close collaboration to quickly resolve any issues. The partnership is described as constructive and professional, with a clear commitment to follow clear guidelines and maintain a high operational standard.

We see service as a natural extension of the product — not an add-on. Our goal is to stay close to the customer, ensuring fast response, clear solutions, and stable operations at all times,” says Mr. Cruz.

Looking ahead, UNI:ON is confident about continuing the partnership with Green Instruments. “We have experienced fast, active support through the 24-hour hotline and smooth communication. This level of responsiveness and reliability makes a big difference for us,” UNI:ON concludes. In addition, UNI:ON emphasizes quick responsiveness, excellent product quality, and proactive service as the main reasons.
